Crevasse Rescue
EDUCATIONAL COURSE
MAG’s 1-day Crevasse Rescue Course is for climbers/skiers who are interested in learning how to travel safely as a rope team in glaciated terrain and perform a basic crevasse rescue. The course will cover glacier travel, the individual components of a successful crevasse rescue system, and how to put these components together to create a successful crevasse rescue system. The majority of the course will focus on the technical components of crevasse rescue.

Skills Covered:
Overview of glacier travel
Roping up as a team of 2 or 3
Identifying and avoiding hazards on a glacier
Self-arrests
Snow anchors
Applicable knots
Friction hitches
Mechanical advantages (3:1 and 5:1/6:1 hauling systems)
Completing a crevasse rescue

Experience with ice axes and crampons
Basic knowledge of knots and rope systems

Professional guiding and instruction
All technical equipment

Technical clothing, backpack, etc.
